Lava

Lava (People) were born from a collaboration with Danish ceramic artist Louise Gaarmann during a weekend residency in Louise's studio in 2011. The Lava are fun, approachable sculpture pieces.

Each Lava is hand thrown, fired three times and glazed in Denmark - no two are alike. Their expressions can mean many things… are they nervous? Tired? Excited?

Originally thrown in low-fire earthenware clay, Lavas have recently switched to stoneware clays. The switch in clay allows us to obtain a more rustic, ceramic feel with thicker and more interesting glazes.

The stoneware clays are imported from England, Germany and the Netherlands depending on texture and look.

Size: about 13-15 x 9-10 cm tall (each piece is unique)

Care: Hand wash with hot water and soap (stoneware versions)

Orb Porcelain

Our smooth porcelain money bank is hand cast and glazed with thick and runny pastel colours.

Each Orb has different and random drip sizes - no two are exactly alike. The Orb rests on a cork stopper foot making it look like it's floating in mid air, enabling one to fill it with coins - and then empty the vessel without having to smash it.

The Orb Porcelain is based on the Orb Stoneware design, but at a more affordable price and a less experimental glazing. Compared to its stoneware sibling, the porcelain version has a softer, more Scandinavian look.

This item comes in a protective, printed cardboard box for safer gifting and shipping.

Size: 14 x 14 cm

Care: Hand wash with hot water and soap.

Melting Mug

A decade long obsession with the physical clash between thick glazes and exposed unglazed porcelain came together in the Melting Mug.

The design of this mug is based on the classic Japanese yunomi, an everyday tea mug, as seen in most traditional restaurants and kaiten sushi bars.

Each Melting Mug is hand-cast in white porcelain and and dipped in an uncontrollable glaze - some have long drips, some have short. You never know what you get until you open the practical cardboard box in which the Mug arrives.

Hand-cast and glazed individually in a small porcelain factory in Portugal.

Size: 10,5 x 8 cm

Care: Hand- or machine wash.

There's a sight danger of breakage in the microwave due to sudden temperature changes so please be careful with extreme temperature changes. Boiling (100 C warm) water is also not great, please wait 1 minute for the temperature to lower before you pour it into the mug.

Prism

Being a design studio we also want to challenge ourselves with materials other than ceramics.

Glass paperweights in the traditional half-dome shape originally came from France in the mid 1800s but were later picked up by fine glass artisans in Italy.

"Decorative glass paperweights fit easily into the hand and are actually meant to be handled and viewed from various directions through the dome, which acts like a lens to make the design change in its appearance with its movements in an attractive way" (source: Wikipedia)

Use the weight to keep your papers in place on your desk against a sudden breeze through your study or for decorative purposes around your house. The way the light bounces around in the crystall glass - especially when the sun is low on the sky - is hypnotic.

Pressed in high quality crystal glass in a factory in China and with a bottom covered in soft, black velvet for secure placement. Our logo is stamped on the velvet in gold paint.

Size: 10 cm wide

Weight: 650 g (heavy in shipping!)

Care: Wipe with dry cloth

Orb Stoneware

Inspired by a fortuneteller's crystal ball we designed a money bank for grown ups:

The Orb (from latin orbis = circle) is hand-cast in rustic high-fired stoneware and garnished with many different glazes.

Our Orb glazes are constantly switched up and experimented with guaranteeing that each one is unique. The way the clay and glaze combine in the kiln is completely unpredictable.

Orb functions not only as a money bank, but also as a piece of clean, geometric sculpture – a classic Scandinavian design product made of honest, natural materials. The stoneware Orb fits in at both a rustic summer home or a sleekly decorated living space.

Hand-cast in rural Denmark by Anders' dad and hand-glazed in our studio in Copenhagen.

Size: 13 x 15 cm
