The Autumn Window

Darkness looms in the horizon and we cherish the last remaining beams of light. The blue skies and wildflowers have disappeared and on the wind scents of summer have been replaced with the sweet decay of mushrooms and fading leaves.

Through the window glass we observe life outside while preparing for the forthcoming hardships of winter. The last, ripened fruits are picked from the garden while the sun sets and we step backwards into our homes and barricade the doors and wait for what is coming.
