Oliver for KFUM IDRÆT
Mascot character design for Danish kids' excercise and sports organisation KFUM Idræt.
Oliver the Squirrel is a happy, carefree gym fan who likes to include everybody in the fun of sports. He doesn't leave the nerds and the gays standing in a corner feeling left out, but has the charisma to engage and invite anyone to join the games.
Needless to say I wish there had been an Oliver when I was in school.

Happy New 2012
2012 will be another busy year, hopefully with less Japanese nuclear disasters and more economic optimism.
Studio Arhoj will be working on and presenting more Oline stuff, new bar identities, new character worlds, a vintage hobby webshop, DIY quilting, lots of new ceramics and a great bunch of illustrations.
Thank you to all clients and friends for playing with and supporting Studio Arhoj.

RUM Magazine
I love the Danish interior magazine RUM ("space" in Danish), their taste is impeccable, rustic and caters to no one.
And for the first time one of my designs is featured - a Spirit piggybank is hiding in a corner of a page.

Alt med måde
Big one page illustration for Danish newspaper Berlingske's Sunday section.
The article uncovers the new trend of NOT buying anything which leads to new business for the recycling/upcycling/sustainable living industry.
As a self employed ceramic manufacturer, book illustrator and game designer I can't say I fully support the idea of not buying anything new, since I'd be out of business then.
But recycling and trying to repair old stuff instead of just throwing it away - I totally support that.

Shanghai single
New single pack on iTunes for Danish band Shanghai's Smoke and Mirrors song.
The track is remixed by 80's electro pop master Michael Cassette and the cover is a pastiche between his own album cover from 2009 and the Shanghai logo 'S'.
The remix pack is available on iTunes.

First FIRE
This week I bought my very first ceramic kiln. Finally after having borrowed space in friend's kilns over the years I can now fire whenever I want to, yay!
I have founded my own ceramic studio far away from everything in the Northern parts of rural Jutland, close to the Western Sea and to deep pine forests filled with wild deer. Sometimes they even have a picnic right outside the studio windows.
As much as I love living in Copenhagen I think it's important for any creative mind to get out of the city now and then and get the physical and mental noise rinsed off. There's too much going on around any person living in 2011. Boredom and nothingness gives birth to new ideas.
The new studio will focus on producing Ghosts and Spirits as well as creating new products and art pieces. This is a picture of my very first glaze firing. The kiln didn't explode, hooray!

Días Nórdicos
I was invited to take part in a large shirt design exhibition in Madrid during Días Nórdicos, the annual Nordic festival in Spain involving Nordic/Scandinavian designers, artists and musicians.
The festival exhibits 14 of my shirt designs. Would have loved to pop down to Madrid and attend the opening, but too much stuff going on here in CPH right now to go on vacation in the Spanish sun.

Flowing Spirits
Last week I used a new kind of glaze for a fresh batch of Spirit piggybanks. I mixed it with two kinds of blue coloured pigment and when they came out of the kiln, the glaze had run all down the sides, each one in a different way.
It was an accident - but a lucky one as I think they look even more fun now.
The new versions are available at Danish design store Furnish and at the HAY stores in Copenhagen.
