Hamaya

Hamayas, made of of wood, feathers, gold and brass paper, are a symbolic lucky charm from Shinto, the indigenous spirituality of Japan. The arrow is made to drive away bad luck and protect you from harm and demons.

The arrow blends well with other objects like pictures or masks from around the galaxy. Use several arrows for a wall installation to create a visual impact all while driving away negative energy around the house.

This item was originally designed and manufactured for an art installation at Umami Mart, a Japanese design store in Oakland California, which we designed and built in 2012.

Our Hamayas are hand made  by Shinto monks in a temple workshop in Tokyo.
